A newsletter on the use of eLearning in adult Christian education? Why? Why not? There is certainly interest among a number of those responsible for 'growing' the laos, whether training for accredited or licensed ministry or seeking to equip the people of God to walk the talk, 24-7. Meanwhile the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in education and training grows exponentially in schools, FE, business and industry, and the government has just started to pump £33m into adult and community learning to assist the uptake of ICT. But it is easy to be bamboozled or simply not have time to keep up, never mind catch up. I've been exploring the territory for some years now, don't claim to know all the answers but have become familiar with some of the questions. I could trot out a few cv credentials but prefer that you decide whether or not this is a welcome addition to your reading; there will always be an 'unsubscribe' link. What, then, is in view? 350 words emailed fortnightly to contacts who in this first instance might be interested. Opt out if you wish or, if it's valuable to you, forward to a friend using the box below. On topics that occur, from what is "eLearning" to statistics for Internet access; from what to look for in various software genres to reviews of books on the theology of cyberspace. And the motive for providing a service like this? I use the strapline forging the nexus of ICT, theology and education to express my contribution to developing laos ministry. Hoping to help the people of God be envisioned, empowered and equipped appropriately to minister God's grace, mercy, love and truth in every situation in which they find themselves. To this end there needs to be more and more learning opportunities, and the churches struggle to provide them. This newsletter might catalyse more to be developed as electronic resources and thus more of the highest quality to be made more widely available. See you in two weeks with a report of the recent London eLearning Show.
Yours in Christ, |
